Free Husbandry Help & Advice!

Can you display animals outside? - Sorry no. We ask that all events / activities that involve live animals are held indoors, in a suitable environment for live animals, (Not close to loud noises, flashing lights or food).

What will I need to provide / get ready before you arrive? - We only require 2 large tables and access to 1 power source.

Can I choose what animals come to my event? - If you have a particular interest in a certain species please make us aware while booking. We always try our best to bring asked for animals, but being animals it depends on their circumstance on the day. E.g. reptiles may be in shed. We always aim to being a wide selection of species.

Can I hold a snake around my neck? - Sorry no. We only allows people the opportunity to handle animals by fully supporting them with both hands.

But I have seen your keepers handling large snakes on their shoulders? Due to large snakes being so long & heavy, this is the only safe way to support their full body weight. Keepers have been trained and will only remove large snakes from their enclosures if another keeper is on site in the event room. We allow members of the public to come up close, but they can't be held due to their strength.

Can I stroke Yoshi the Tanuki? - Unfortunately Yoshi our Tanuki can not be touched or stroked. Yoshi can come out with us to public events, but for display only.

Do you give your animals a break while at events? - Yes. We like to rotate our animals that are bring used for handling workshops every 20 minutes.

Do your animals have heat or lighting while at events? Yes dependent on the weather during the event, we have heating and lighting equipment available. All Exo Terra terrariums come to events with their lighting canopies.

Does / will it bite? - We only use animals for hands on workshops that have been well handled and have no history of biting. But these animals do have teeth, and like a cat or a dog can bite is provoked or put under stress.

Can I hold a Tarantula? - Unless taking part in a one on one phobia workshop, we do not allow handerling of tarantulas at events. Keepers are however on hand to remove them out of their enclosures for a closer look. We do not recommend anyone with asthma or who is allergic to bee stings to take part in close encouters with Tarantulas.

Do your animals live in the enclosures you bring them to events in? - Some of our smaller species we being to events, in Exo Terra glass terrariums, do live in them on a daily basis... Along with the invertebrates housed in our Exo Terra plastic terrariums.

All reptiles and other species brought in RUB's, go back into wooden vivariums.

What if someone harms or drops a animal? - The well being and safety of our animals comes first while at all events. We understand that accidents happen but will not tolirate bad behaviour towards our animals and staff. Anyone who intenally harms an animal or is abusive to a keeper will be asked to leave the event area.
